Seed Grants for Cooperative Projects
Seed Grants for Cooperative Projects: Interim Grant
This grant exists in recognition of the importance Notre Dame places on fostering intellectual community for scholars, especially for those whose most meaningful potential interlocutors might be at other universities. To encourage cooperative or interdisciplinary research ventures, ISLA invites applications from individuals or teams of faculty sharing mutual interests for projects that include faculty at other universities. The purpose of this grant is to encourage exchanges and conversations about work in progress by bringing faculty from other universities to Notre Dame and/ or sending faculty members from the College of Arts and Letters to another institution for the same reason. This grant might be especially attractive to individuals who work in relatively specialized areas and who have few colleagues with similar interests on campus.
Applications, sent in hard copy to the ISLA office, must include:
1. The names and CVs of all participants;
2. An explanation of the nature of the exchange - how long will the participants spend together; what will they be doing; what is the best location for this etc;
3. A statement of projected outcomes, including a clear explanation of how the exchange will enhance the applicant’s future scholarly publications and suggested criteria for how the grant’s success can be evaluated;
4. A detailed budget, outlining and justifying each expense.
A report on the achievements of the exchange will be required after its completion: a follow up report two years later evaluating its success will also be required.
The maximum grant in this category is $2,500.
