Materials and Miscellaneous Research Needs Grants
Grants of up to $1,500 are awarded to assist faculty with one-time unusual miscellaneous expenses. These grants can be used to cover the purchase of photographs, microfilms, rare books or manuscripts, software, equipment, permissions to publish materials, databases, maps, tables, or to hire a graduate student or editorial assistant for research assistance or indexing. Provide original documentation, such as invoices and receipts that meet the University’s accounting standards to receive reimbursement. To minimize paperwork, please collect receipts and submit together for reimbursement.
Restrictions: one grant under this initiative in each University fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Note: Federal regulations prohibit the University from reimbursing fees paid to individuals for research-related technical personal services. Therefore, submit the individual’s invoice to the Institute for direct payment from the University. Any materials grant will be reduced by the amount of anticipated royalties or other direct project income. Software purchases require documentation that software available through the Office of Information Technology does not meet the needs and that the requested software is sufficiently specialized that the University cannot obtain a site license.
