Quantitative Methods Grants in the Social Sciences: Travel
Faculty may submit an application requesting funds to support the costs of travel and attending a quantitatively oriented talk or workshop. Grants are limited to a portion of the cost of round–trip air travel, daily expenses, and registration fees. ISLA does not pay a per diem: original receipts must be turned in. Except under extraordinary circumstances, the Institute must receive your application before your travel begins.
Application Procedures:
- A description of the talk or workshop that specifies the particular tools, methods, or skills that will be presented.
- An articulation of how attending this particular talk or workshop will enhance one’s research and scholarly activities. For example, would attending the talk or workshop complement an ongoing research project or a potential future project?
Budget: ISLA will cover the cost of airfare or other transportation costs of up to $300, registration or workshop fees of up to $1000, and a maximum of $125 per day for each day of the talk or workshop plus up to one extra travel day. Note: original receipts must be submitted with the reimbursement request to document all expenses.
Restrictions: you may receive one grant under this initiative in each University fiscal year (July 1 – June 30); however, if you receive funding under this initiative two years in succession you must wait one year before you are eligible to receive funding again.
