Initiative for Graduate Recruiting

ISLA, in collaboration with the Graduate School, is offering a new initiative to foster greater faculty involvement with the recruitment of graduate students in foreign countries.

  • Faculty who apply for an interim grant from ISLA for Travel to an International Conference may apply for supplementary funding to set up recruiting events with potential students.

  • Funds, up to $500, may be used to support travel or lodgings to allow faculty to extend their time abroad to meet with colleagues and potential graduate students in distinguished foreign universities.

  • Applicants will be expected to identify their contacts and explain their plans for recruiting when requesting these funds—please include this information in the International Conference Travel application.

  • A report on the recruiting effort must be submitted to the Director of ISLA to receive this award.
