The Boehnen Fund for Excellence in the Arts
The Boehnen Fund for Excellence in the Arts provides support for artistic projects. During 2008/2009 five to ten awards, ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, will be made through the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts.
Purposes: A creative or scholarly project, the development of a new course, the enhancement of student-faculty interaction, or an artistic event that will enrich the cultural and artistic life of the College, for example, the appearance of a visiting artist. Programs should be held during calendar year 2009.
Applications may be submitted by individual faculty members, a group of faculty members, or departments.
Application Procedures: Applicants should submit a brief narrative of no more than three, single-spaced pages, describing the nature and significance of the project, its importance to the artistic and cultural life of Notre Dame or to scholarship, how it will be carried out and by whom, a project timeline, and a proposed budget. Along with the narrative and budget, applicants may submit supplemental materials, such as a recording, video, or other artwork that will assist the review committee in assessing the quality of the proposed project. Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria: the quality of the proposed project, its potential benefit to cultural life on campus or its contribution to scholarship, and the ability of the proposer(s) to carry out the project within the projected time frame. Applications will be evaluated by a peer-review committee appointed by the director of ISLA.
Deadline: Applications (original plus four copies) should be submitted by November 10, 2008 to the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, 101 O’Shaughnessy Hall.
