
Research Grant in Africana Studies
The Bayard Rustin Professional Development Fellowship provides research funding to an individual whose project is focused on an Africana Studies topic. During 2008/2009 a research award of no more than $2,500.00 will be made through the Department of Africana Studies.
Purposes: The intention behind this initiative is to encourage faculty research activities in Africana Studies. This initiative would also complement the University’s aspirations to advance Notre Dame as an international academic community.
Eligibility: All regular faculty members, Teaching and Research as well as Special Professional Faculty, from the university are eligible.
Application Procedures: Applicants should submit a brief narrative of no more than three, single-spaced pages, describing the nature and significance of the project, its importance to Africana Studies, how it will be carried out and by whom, a project timeline, and a proposed budget. Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria: the quality of the proposed project, its potential contribution to Africana Studies scholarship, and the ability of the proposer(s) to carry out the project within the projected period. Applications will be evaluated by a peer-review committee appointed by the chair of the Department of Africana Studies.
Deadline: Applications (original plus four copies) should be submitted by November 10, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. to the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, 101 O’Shaughnessy Hall.
