UROP Summer Grants
The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program enhances undergraduate education by providing financial support to students who wish to engage in independent research or creative projects during the summer.
Students may independently design their projects or propose a project related to some aspect of the research of a supervising faculty member. In either case, a regular faculty member (teaching & research or professional specialist) must endorse the proposal and supervise the project.
The UROP Program offers three summer grants: the Comprehensive Grant; the Da Vinci Grant; and the American Dream Grant. Comprehensive Summer Grants provide support for living expenses, travel or materials for a broad array of summer projects for students with majors or minors in the College of Arts and Letters. The Da Vinci grant supports interdisciplinary projects (research or artistic) from students in the Colleges of Science, Arts and Letters and Engineering. American Dream Grants support scholarship or creative projects that address issues related to the American Dream. The maximum award for each of these grants is $4,500.For instructions on the application process, see Guidelines for Academic Year and Summer UROP Proposals.
Proposals involving travel to countries for which a State Department travel warning has been issued will not be considered unless the student is traveling with a University of Notre Dame faculty member.
