Course Development Grants

A grant up to $3,500 will be available for preparing a new course, or substantially revising an existing one. Up to $5,000 is available for courses being planned and taught collaboratively by two or more scholars. Grants can be used for teaching materials, supplementary travel, or research (e.g., books, subject payments). All regular faculty in the College are eligible to apply.

A letter of support from the chair of the applicant’s department must be attached to proposals for this initiative. We are especially interested in supporting projects in the following areas: multicultural diversity; courses that integrate aspects of the Catholic tradition into new or existing courses; dialogue-intensive courses; development of learning communities; courses focusing on Africa or Asia; and language across the curriculum.

Apply any time (except June 1 - July 31).

To apply, please submit the following:

  •   proposal narrative of no more than 4 single-spaced pages
  •  an abbreviated CV of no more than 2 pages
  •  a budget with budget explanation
  •  in addition to the support you are requesting from ISLA, please list all other sources, the amount you are requesting from those sources, and contact information for those sources (name, email address, phone number)

 

Courses that receive funding must be taught for at least 2 semesters by the professor who receives the funding.
